Jewellery Care Basics
Individual pieces of jewellery should be wrapped or kept separate to prevent scratching or chipping. Jewellery can be stored in zip-lock bags for short periods of time, which will slow the tarnishing process of silver and gold.

Clean silver and gold jewellery with a polishing cloth. Pearls should be wiped with a soft cloth after wearing, and semiprecious stones can usually be cleaned in the same manner. If semiprecious stones need a good cleaning, it's best to only use a small amount of mild soap and a damp cloth. If in doubt, seek expert advice.

Keep jewellery dry. Put it on after applying perfume, sunscreen or hairspray to avoid damage, and remove it before bathing or washing dishes. Clasps and earrings can get caught in clothing, so when changing clothes, make sure you remove your jewellery first.
